set homepage mozilla firefox command line slackware

to do: set the homepage of our choice on mozilla firefox from command line

1. find the file prefs.js using locate command

locate prefs.js

stored in your ~/.mozilla/firefox folder

2. open it with your favourite text editor

nano ~/.mozilla/firefox/920exzw0.default/prefs.js

well mine as you can see was not in profiles folder but rather in 920exzw0.default folder…

3. add the below line to it

user_pref(“browser.startup.homepage”, “http://www.myhomepagenow.com/“);

restart firefox and voila!
